The FIRST EVER ground cover Hydrangea!! Unlike traditional Hydrangeas, this hydrangea will grow horizontally, creating a ground cover effect. Just released in 2026.. VERY hard to find!!
Panicle/Paniculata
Full Sun (6-8+ hours of sun)
Starts off white, and then fades to a "blush" pink

New to 2027, with select nurseries offering a limited release in Fall of 2026, this new Smooth Hydrangea will stay pink to matter your soil pH!
Smooth/Arborescence
Full Sun to Partial Shade (4-6 hours of sun. Can also tolerate 6+ hours of sun, in certain climates)
Starts off a ruby pink, then fades to a softer pink

One of my favorites from the Endless Summer Collection, is Summer Crush. This stays more compact than The Original, and my favorite features are its sturdy stems and VIBRANT colors. I use a mix of Garden Lime and Soil Acidifier, to promote a mix of Pink and Purple blooms on the same plant!
Big Leaf/Macrophylla
Part Shade to Part Sun (4-6 hours of morning sun, with afternoon shade is best) Also slightly varies by climate
Pink in an alkaline soil, purple in an acidic soil

By far, the most unique hydrangea that I have. This Eclipse Hydrangea has dark purple foliage with red or pink blooms. When the leaves emerge, they are almost a true black color, and then over time they will slightly fade into a bit more of a dark dark green/purple. Truly a stunning plant, even if you don't get many blooms. Some people will grow this just for the appeal of the foliage!
Big Leaf/Macrophylla
Part Shade to Part Sun (4-6 hours of morning sun, with afternoon shade is best) Also slightly varies by climate
Cranberry Red in an alkaline soil, Cranberry Red/Purple in an acidic soil

Talk about a classic Cape Cod look!! We have over 10 of The Originals in our yard and they are always a show stopper. Beautiful light blue blooms, in our acidic Cape Cod soil
Big Leaf/Macrophylla
Part Shade to Part Sun (4-6 hours of morning sun, with afternoon shade is best) Also slightly varies by climate
Pink in an alkaline soil, blue in an acidic soil

Another classic from the Endless Summer Collection, is Bloomstruck. A unique Hydrangea that has red-ish stems, and will have a purple bloom in our acidic Cape Cod soil

Pink in an alkaline soil, purple in an acidic soil

A brand new addition to my garden, is the newly released DreamCloud. This beauty is unique in the fact that this is a Big Leaf Hydrangea where the blooms will stay white no matter your soil pH! I like this better than having a white Smooth Hydrangea, because these Macrophylla blooms will age and "antique" into a beautiful array of colors throughout the summer and fall months. (provided it is in enough shade, and is well watered)
Big Leaf/Macrophylla
Part Shade to Part Sun (4-6 hours of morning sun, with afternoon shade is best) Also slightly varies by climate
White in ALL soil pH!!

Another newly released, is this Flowerfull Smooth Hydrangea. Perfect for areas that may get a bit too much sun for a Big Leaf Hydrangea to thrive, this hydrangea is a beautiful white option
Smooth/Arborescence
Full Sun to Partial Shade (3-6 hours of sun. Can also tolerate 6+ hours of sun, in certain climates)
White in ALL soil pH!!

Part of the Let's Dance Vaierty that is bred for more cold hardiness, this newly planted Hydrangea currently has beautiful pink blooms (due to the alkaline soil from the pot it was grown in.. I am worried that this could change, given we have such acidic soil. So I am going to be treating this soil with Espoma Garden Lime to try and keep the booms pink, just like the image here
Big Leaf/Macrophylla
Part Shade to Part Sun (4-6 hours of morning sun, with afternoon shade is best) Also slightly varies by climate
Pink in Alkaline soil and Blue in Acidic soil

Part of the Let's Dance Collection that is bred for more cold hardiness, I should be able to rely on this plant for blooms, even if we get a harsh winter or late spring frost here in New England.

Pink in Alkaline soil and Blue in Acidic soil

Another unique one, this is the first ever "cascading" hydrangea, where the plant blooms on every leaf node, opposed to just on the tips, like a traditional hydrangea. Such a unique display of lacecap blooms, which is also one of the first plants to flower each season! Works great in a container
Hybrid genus-species (Hydrangea x)
Part Sun to Full Fun (5+ Hours of Sun)
White lacecap blooms

Right next to my Fairytrail Bride, I have a sister-variety called Fairytrail Fresco. Where this differs, is how it has blue mophead blooms, opposed to the white lacecap blooms of the "Bride" variety. In alkaline soil, you will have pink blooms

Pink in Alkaline Soil, Blue in Acidic Soil

Moving onto some of my favorite Panicles, another newly release Hydrangea to 2026, is Spring Sizzle. This quick to bloom hydrangea has a unique feature.. It quickly fades from it's white color to pink, which is great for more southern climates where panicles can tend to crisp to brown, before transitioning into their late summer and fall pink/red colors.
Panicle/Paniculata
Full Sun to Part Shade (4+ Hours of Sun, but can handle more in cooler climates)
White and fading to pink

A stunning Panicle Hydrangea that starts off white and then fades into a pink and eventually red. This Hydrangea is great for areas where you get a lot of sun and you are looking for a bright pop of color
Panicle/Paniculata
Part Sun to Full Sun (5+ Hours of Sun, but can handle more in cooler climates)
White and fading to pink/red

A smaller sister to Fire Light, Fire Light Tidbit is more compact (2-3 feet) and is a great option for tight spaces. I have this planted right next to a Fire Light, so the explosion of white, to pink to red blooms is breathtaking.
Panicle/Paniculata
Part Sun to Full Sun (5+ Hours of Sun, but can handle more in cooler climates)
White and fading to pink/red

The Proven Winners 2027 Plant of the Year, Pufferfish is similar to the popular Bobo, but a bit more "puffed-up". I have this plant in a relatively shady spot of the yard, where I thought a panicle might not thrive.. I may be sacrificing some blooms with the lack of sun, but it seems to be doing well over the past few years, and it always adds a nice pop of white onto a corner of all Big Leaf Hydrangeas!
Panicle/Paniculata

One of, if not the most famous and recognizable Panicle Hydrangea out there! This is typically the massive hydrangeas that you see EVERYWHERE. The tag will say it can get up to 8 feet tall, but if planted in the right spot and the right conditions, your plant can easily tower over those estimates. The only downside to these plants, is that they have the tendency to flop over after heavy rains, when they are young. If you properly prune your plant each year, it will eventually have enough support to hold up the weight of its blooms.. you just need to have a little patience.
Panicle/Paniculata
Part Sun to Full Sun (5+ Hours of Sun, but can handle more in cooler climates)
White and fading to pink/burgundy

Same flopping issues and pruning protocol as the normal Limelight, but this Standard (or Tree Form) Hydrangea is always a show stopper in any garden. I love how this looks with other hydrangeas planted near or under the tree
Panicle/Paniculata
Part Sun to Full Sun (5+ Hours of Sun, but can handle more in cooler climates)
White and fading to pink/burgundy

A new and improved version of the Limelight, Limelight Prime is more compact, and has sturdy stems. This helps eliminate the flopping that young Limelights are so susceptible to
